Custom centrifugal fans for A/C blowers
15 May 2026
Not every fan solution starts with off-the-shelf components. For compact A/C blower systems, the available space, airflow requirement, and system resistance can make an axial fan a poor fit. In this case, we fabricated forward-curved centrifugal (FCC) fan wheels specifically for the application.
Why centrifugal fans work well in A/C systems
A centrifugal fan draws air into the centre of the wheel and throws it outward through the blades. This makes it well suited to HVAC applications where air must be pushed through evaporator coils, filters, and ducting.
Axial fans are effective when large volumes of air need to move through low-resistance systems. Centrifugal fans are often the better choice when pressure capability matters, especially in compact systems.
Built for demanding environments
By fabricating the wheels in-house, we could match the fan design to the blower application instead of forcing a standard component to fit. In this case, the wheels were built for mining vehicles, where dust, vibration, heat, and limited installation space all place extra demands on the equipment.
For compact HVAC systems, that matters. The right fan wheel can support airflow performance, reliability, and long-term operation in demanding conditions.
Custom centrifugal fans for practical airflow challenges
Custom centrifugal fans are useful when standard components cannot meet the requirements of the application, whether because of space constraints, pressure requirements, mounting limitations, or operating conditions.
At Inventive Air, we work with practical airflow challenges where performance, fit, and reliability matter.
Sometimes that means supplying a standard axial fan solution.
Sometimes it means fabricating the component around the application.
